We use the Quota based Point System all three days of competition. This allows players to play quicker, and the competition is purely based on how you perform compared to your normal scores. Quotas are adjusted up or down each day depending on how well or poorly you perform.
We started our tournament in 2010 with just 15 players with a couple of things in mind - - Three rounds of golf at a beautiful location and three days of camaraderie where Dads can be Guys for the one weekend a year in July at beautiful resort (Right 2020 Moose Champion Paul Noonan)
(2012 & 2018 Moose Champion Nealon Perkins) Here is a breakdown on how you earn points: Bogey on a hole equals one point. Par on a hole equals two points. Birdie on a hole equals four points. Eagle on a hole equals 8 points. Double eagle equals sixteen points.
(2017 and 2021 Moose Champion Joe Gross) If you have an established and current USGA Handicap, your quota will be established by subtracting you course handicap from 36.
(2016 Moose Champion Jerry Locantro) and it is your first time playing the Moose, you will play the first day and your score will be used to set your quota. Your score will be -4 for the first day. We will interview your playing partners to get their input to determine your quota for day two and going forward.
(2015 Moose Champion Chris Taylor) Each player can improve their lie up to one club length no closer to the hole. You can not move onto the green but you can move it off the green if so desired. You are allowed to carry as many clubs as you wish. You must play your clubs only.
(2013 Moose Champion Travis Vining) All Lost Balls and Out of Bounds are played as Lateral Hazards. Where your shot entered the Hazard or Out of Bounds, you can take one club length from that spot, add a one shot penalty and play your next shot.
(2010 & 2011 Moose Champion Andy F. Faw) You are allowed to change balls during the hole but no illegal balls or mulligans are allowed. ALL PUTTS FOR BOGEY OR BETTER MUST BE HOLED - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you can not make a bogey, please pick up and record double bogey maximum score. Playing out the hole only slows down the entire tournament.
Our annual event this year will be played at the Brasstown Valley Resort. The minute you step out of the car everything you need is within walking distance (Left 2019 & 2024 Champion Rod Everett).
